New Shareholder Announced | January 2012
CobbFendley has announced Sean Wolfe, P.G. as the newest CobbFendley Shareholder. Located in the firm’s Albuquerque office, Sean is responsible for Subsurface Utility Engineering and regional development of all of CobbFendley’s services in New Mexico. “We are excited to add Sean to our leadership team, knowing that he will continue to aid in the company’s growth and respect throughout the industry,” said Allen Watson, president of the firm.

New Associate Announced | December 2011
Brad Matlock, P.E. has been named as CobbFendley’s newest Associate. Located in the firm’s League City office, Brad is a Municipal Project Manager whose recent projects include paving and drainage improvements for the City of Clear Lake Shores; preparing TDRA disaster recovery grants for the Cities of League City, Quintana, and Seabrook; and providing rehabilitation of the City of Shoreacres’ water and wastewater systems. “Brad possesses the leadership, management and engineering skills that our employees and clients deserve and expect from CobbFendley. We are proud to include Brad as an Associate of the firm,” said Dale Conger, CobbFendley Vice President.

Expansion Into New Mexico | October 2011
CobbFendley has opened a new office in Albuquerque, New Mexico to serve the firm’s growing list of clients including the New Mexico Department of Transportation and the City of Albuquerque. In addition to providing engineering services, CobbFendley maintains vacuum excavation trucks in New Mexico in order to provide timely subsurface utility engineering to local clients. “Within two months of opening our office in Albuquerque we were already looking to expand the space to accommodate the phenomenal growth we have experienced. We feel right at home in New Mexico and look forward to continuing the growth we have already enjoyed,” said Sean Wolfe, P.G., a CobbFendley Associate and Manager of the New Mexico operations.

Fastest Growing Firm | August 2011
CobbFendley has been named to the Zweig Letter Hot Firm List for 2011. This distinction as one of the fastest growing engineering consulting firms in the United States and Canada is based on percentage of revenue growth as well as absolute dollar revenue growth over a four-year period. Rankings are based on a survey of industry firms conducted by ZweigWhite, the publisher of The Zweig Letter. This is CobbFendley’s second appearance on the Hot Firm List; in 2008 the firm was awarded “Hot Firm Honorable Mention”.

Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Presentations | August 2011
CobbFendley’s SUE Department Manager, Mr. Bobby Nagel, P.E., presented “Subsurface Utility Engineering - A Cost and Time Effective Option” during the Fall Meeting of the Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). In addition, Mr. Nagel and Mr. Sean Wolfe, P.G. recently presented commonly used and emerging underground location technologies, as well as liability, insurance and procurement issues at a Subsurface Utility Engineering education seminar.

TSA Design Award | June 2011
CobbFendley is the prime consultant for gantry design of one main lane gantry structure and 12 ramp plazas along the East Sam Houston Tollway between US 90 and US 59. CobbFendley performed all civil and toll infrastructure design and coordinated all architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical designs on the project in conjunction with all of the ITS design along the same roadway. This high-profile project recently received a design award from the Texas Society of Architects. The architect for the project was RdlR Architects who prepared one of the 257 entries submitted in the 2011 TSA Design Awards program.

Excellence in Utility Relocation and Accommodation Award | May 2011
CobbFendley provided utility relocation as part of the project team selected to receive the Federal Highway Administration’s 2011 Excellence in Utility Relocation and Accommodation Awards Program in the Construction Management category. For TxDOT’s I-10 Bridge Replacement Project over the Neches River, CobbFendley generated a joint directional bore design to resolve conflicts between seven telecommunication companies and coordinating and managing construction of all utility relocations required.

Outstanding Prime Contractor Award | May 2011
The City of Houston recently awarded CobbFendley with the Outstanding Prime Contractor Award in Professional Services at the MWBE Awards and Appreciation Breakfast. Based on the firm's commitment to the City's minority, women, and disadvantaged business owners program, CobbFendley was honored to celebrate the many successful relationships that have benefited City projects.

Top Design Firm | April 2011
CobbFendley has been ranked by Engineering News-Record Magazine as a Top Design Firm in the United States. The Top 500 Design Firms list, published annually in April, ranks the 500 largest U.S.-based designs firms, both publicly and privately held, based on design-specific revenue. CobbFendley is ranked at number 410 out of 500 engineering and architectural firms.
